A modern desktop computer consists of Display Motherboard, CPU, Primary storage (RAM), Expansion cards, Power supply, Optical disc drive, Secondary Storage(HDD), Keyboard etc.

A desktop computer is an immovable computer used by individuals for daily usage. Desktop computers are also used by the corporate world for their staff and office use. A desktop computer is high on it features and is open to upgradations and updates more seamlessly, unlike the laptop. A desktop has a motherboard, which is the primary unit of the desktop computer and it connects with accessories like the display screen, keyboard, mouse, speakers, printer, DVD-ROM etc to give out more utility and perform variable duties.
The desktop computers can be broadly divided into three main types. These include: Desktop computer, Work Stations, and Gaming PCs.
• The Desktop computer systems are generally used at home or in the office.
• Workstations are designed for self operation and have a mirror hard disk for back ups. They are connected to a local area network (LAN) and are made possible to run multi-user operating systems. They are the sort of server for many computers and tend to integrate multiple computers.
• The gaming computers are specifically built to play computer games at high end resolutions than domestic computers. They feature extraordinary exteriors and technically advanced components only aimed at gaming satisfaction.
The desktops are configured as per the users needs; they are called the assembled ones. They try to put in all the best components available in the market into one computer. However care should be taken to check if it is compatible with the motherboard configuration. Mostly drivers are added into the system to support almost all kinds of accessories. The desktop can be converted for multiple uses, such as it can be attached to powerful speakers and can be switched into a home theater system. An addition of an external hard disk can make it a huge storage for all the documentation and entertainment purposes. Thus a desktop computer can be converted as per the user’s wants.
Desktops can support various operating systems as per their flexibility, whereas a laptop lacks this facility. Desktops could be cheaper than laptops and you can purchase these buy Online computer shopping at online shops. The assembled ones are more popular in the local market than the branded ones. But nevertheless, the branded ones offer more security and good after sales service. So it is upon the user to fix the price of his Desktop, as an assembly of chic accessories and high configuration could cost a Desktop far more than a laptop.

Computer and Computer Accessories

Posted by naaptolarticles on July 5, 2008

If we have a computer, we need a lot of things to get the most of our experience. There are a lot of desktop computer accessories that we need in order to hear, see, and do all of the things that computers are now design to do, therefore we need to have the knowledge about these accessories

Computers have made it possible for working more smoothly and in better sync for daily operations, e-commerce, government, banking, entertainment etc. Internet has converged complex operations and has brought it into one machine. Computers have been designed as per the user’s requirements, like-

Personal Computer: Computer designed for general use by a single person.
Desktop: A PC that is not designed for portability.
Laptop: Also called notebooks, they are portable computers
Palmtop: More commonly known as Personal Digital Assistants (PDAs), palmtops are tightly integrated computers that often use flash memory instead of a hard drive for storage. A slightly larger and heavier version of the palmtop is the handheld computer.
Workstation: A desktop computer that has a more powerful processor and has enhanced capabilities for performing a special group of task, such as 3D Graphics or game development.
Server – A computer that has been optimized to provide services to other computers over a network.
The other types of computer designed to offer all the more comfort to its user include the minicomputer, super computer, wearable, etc.

The computer is surrounded by its essential accessories like the keyboard, mouse, speakers, display screen, Bluetooth, modem etc. The accessories make the computer more functional and easier and it can be exploited to its core. The Printer allows you to take print outs of the required matter immediately and the scanner enables you to upload the tangible paper written matter on to the computer. Now-a-days the Printer, scanner, photocopy and fax are available in one device for comforted utility and less botheration.

Data was carried around in floppies, then came the CD’s offering more capacity (about 700 MB), then came the DVD’s, offering storage upto + 4 GB and the latest offering being the Blue-ray disks which claim to carry around more than 10 GB of data. So a DVD or a Blue-ray drive is required to run these available facilities.

A PC can also be turned into a home-theater system by plugging in the right speakers, woofers and amplifiers. A good surround sound system attached can amaze you and your neighbours. A LCD screen for display can take up less space for your desktop and gives you better viewing experience. Now a step beyond optical mouse and keyboards are the wireless mouse and keyboard. They are connected through the attached Bluetooth in your PC and you can operate your PC sitting ideally in your bed. But make sure you do not lose it.

The high speed modem connection offers great internet speed for your seamless browsing and downloading. One thing that is to be taken care, is to make sure that the accessories you buy is supported by your system and is not overloading the capacity of the system. For eg- an addition of external memory can slow down the speed of your PC if the RAM (Read Access Memory) is not enough to support the external additions.
Thus one needs to know the capacity and the ability of the computer to tone down to the change and the support it offers to the accessories added.

Now there are thousands of shops are available where we can do the Online Computer Shopping at the lowest price and can also get the needful information there

Computer peripherals – to accelerate the performance of your PC.

Posted by naaptolarticles on July 5, 2008

A peripheral is any thing that is on the periphery or on the boundary. It is something that is not very important and not indispensable. A computer peripheral is any piece of computer hardware that is added to a host computer. It includes all those hardware that are added to the computer to elevate its performance. These are devices that are optional in nature unlike those that are demanded for the basic functioning of the computer.

Computer peripheral is a term that is sometimes referred exclusively for devices that are connected externally, generally those that are connected through some form of computer bus like the USB. Its most common examples include joysticks, printers and scanners.
However in a mixed opinion, some people say, internal devices like the video capture cards are not really computer peripherals since they are added inside the computer case. In their opinion the term peripherals is exclusively reserved for devices that are hooked up externally to the computer. It is arguable however whether PCMCIA cards qualify as peripherals under this biased definition. Because there are some hard wares that go fully inside the laptop, while some others like WiFi cards, have external appendages.
Due to these deliberations, the term is hardly used these days. Earlier these were used to refer to things like floppy disk drives and modems. Now a day’s most of these devices are integrated inside the computer’s case. Over and above the external devices typically function on their own such as mp3 players and cell phones.
The common peripherals include.
• Storage: CD, CD ROM, CD writer, DVD, DVD ROM, DVD writer, HD DVD, HD DVD ROM, HD DVD Writer, etc. Other examples in this category include USB flash drive, tape drive, floppy disk, and punch card. In the non removable category are the disk drives, disk array controller, etc.
• Input: In this category devices like keyboard, pointing devices, mouse, trackball, joystick, touch screen, game pad are included.
The devices like the power cord/ transformer, microphone, brain computer interface, image scanner, computer terminal, computer speech recognition, webcam, digitizing tablet, barcode reader are also included in this category.
• Output: For the printing purposes the devices that are used like the plotter, printer, Braille embosser, etc, the devices for the sound like the computer speech synthesis, sound card, speakers, etc are the output peripherals.
The devices for the visuals like the digital camera, graphics card, monitor, the devices for networking like the modem and the network card, expansion devices like the docking station, etc are other output peripheral devices.
Many online computer shopping, portals are giving discount on every purchase of computer peripheral item.
