Online shopping is a simple process that sees a product located, checked to find whether it is stock, paid for and then delivered. Simply browse through the shopping websites, add products to your shopping cart and get started, payment can be made using credit card or PayPal and the ordered items will soon be delivered at your doorstep.
Shopping can be considered as a waging war of prices and bargains between sellers and buyers. Most shoppers are not satisfied if they do not get a good deal and turn somewhere else, but after failing couple of times they succumb to the reasonable deal offered. Here buyers are at a loss and it is not even possible for them to shop physically for one product and get the best deal. Hence one-stop shops like shopping malls offered varied sellers. But these shops cater to different products and not the same product with many multiple sellers. Thus the virtual world served the purpose and made shopping for a single product with multiple sellers possible.
Online shopping catered shopping deals and discounts. The main reason of providing discounts is being online-based and saving on the physical overheads. Online stores don’t have to hoard stuff and can buy as per orders thus reducing on the initial investments. The online stores have discounted shopping to get the buyer. All online sellers fight for a single product to please the buyers. Their comparison of prices and discounts is online in front of the world and they have to compete to offer the best deal and get rewarded by sales. Thus such healthy competition for lowering prices is resulting in savings and best shopping deals for buyers.
Online shopping is also combining array of products being sold together. Popular products are combined with the not so popular ones and are sold as combo offers thus enabling them to clear their stock at the same time giving offers to their customers. Online shopping also saves on time which is even precious than money. It saves on efforts of shopping at the same time availing better deals. Online shopping also enables users to get world-renowned products and get the product of their desire easily. Online shopping gives a clear product description and is mostly coupled by expert reviews and user analysis which show the real worth of the product. This also empowers the buyer to shop for the admirable product suiting his needs and thus save on unnecessary purchases. Online shopping offers array of choice and in very rare cases you will find any product ‘out of stock’. Even though you want that product you could go to a different website at a click rather than taking the efforts of physically searching your product. Online shopping is therefore gaining more acceptances and is being widely followed.

Shopping Mall can be described in this sentence, ‘If you have a home then you will find everything in the shopping mall to fill it up with’. The craze of shopping malls ventured India in the early 2000’s and has seen tremendous growth over the years. The government’s five year tax relief for opening shopping malls and multiplex’s has also boasted this trend to a great extent.
The term ‘window shopping’ was coined due to the huge spur in shopping malls and the notion that it is made up of expensive stores. With the concept of ‘one stop shop’ coupled with entertainment options and comfortable shopping experience hoteliers, retailers and brands grabbed this opportunity with both hands. Even individual retailers found shopping malls a beneficiary prospect.
These individual retail outlets started speaking the consumer language and thus altered prices and designs for the popular crowd. Selection of clothes and pricing was related to the location of the mall. An up-market area had a different line of styling and pricing compared to its own chain in not-so lavish vicinity. Thus people living in these mediocre areas were not able to get the same style and fashion found in the posh areas. Though reaching to the mall has been made comfortable with good enough travel options and parking space, but the crowd on weekends is unavoidable.
People are exposed to the variety and know the umpteen options available in the market. Now every time traveling to the mall is not necessary because home shopping had evolved. People could see the options available and know the whole market without compromising on anything. The virtual world has served the purpose of home shopping satisfactorily. One can see the product display, their features, utility and can even compare products on popular compare sites like naaptol.com.
The growing BPO (Business Process Outsourcing) culture comprising of a huge potential crowd, work in night shifts and at odd hours. Shopping malls in India aren’t open 24*7 and they aren’t truly tapping this potential lot and serving their purpose. Thus home shopping becomes logical as the buyer has the flexibility of time and place at his convenience to make the right purchase without compromising on anything. Unlike the mall there is product categorization and the buyer has the option of choosing his seller on the basis of his requirements. Even local stores could be chosen for buying if a product requires heavy after sales service.
Thus home shopping is a step ahead in shopping malls as it provides more comfort and easy accessibility without much effort. As they say, ‘It’s just a click away.’
